St Just sur Viaur is a tiny country paradise that feels like the middle of nowhere. Perched on the side of a beautiful valley above a lovely river, Le Couvent is the perfect spot to do everything – or nothing.
You are welcome to stay around the house, gardens and village during the day. There are extensive gardens full of nooks and crannies, so find a seat to sunbathe, read, chat or just sit under a tree and look at the view. Sun loungers, deck chairs and hammock are all waiting to be used.
Wander the many footpaths or take a more serious hike along the signed long-distance GR routes. Try to spot the Hoopoes, Golden Oriels and the Nightingales, or watch the Little Egrets on the river. Go wild swimming or just paddle in the lovely Viaur river. Be a tourist and explore Albi and the medieval Bastide towns and villages just a stone’s throw away.
In season go foraging for mushrooms like Cepe, Girolle, Morel and the delicious Horn of Plenty (Death’s Trumpet), or pick wild asparagus, blackberries, cherries, apples and plums (we can cook them if you want!).
…… “There’s something about this place” said a recent guest coming in from a hard morning’s chilling-out in the garden “I always intend to read my book but somehow gazing at the view seems more important. Lovely.”
